About

Built by a family. For families.

PreptRight exists because the moment of handing a child their first smartphone deserves more than a lecture and a list of rules. It deserves a framework.

Our Mission
“To educate, empower, prepare, and protect youth.”

A kid who gets a phone with real preparation behind them is a kid who can handle what comes. That preparation is rare. Most families hand over the device and hope for the best. Others lock it down and hope that holds. Both approaches skip the part that actually matters: the conversation. PreptRight is that conversation, structured into something both parent and child can actually do together.

The Dabo Family — Tyler, Jamie, and their four children in the mountains

The Dabo Family

Tyler & Jamie, and four kids who lived this.

The Founders

Tyler & Jamie Dabo

We've been married 24 years. We have four kids: 22, 20, 17, and 14. We've been paying attention to this phone conversation for a long time, in our own family and in the families around us.

When our oldest daughter was coming up on phone age, we watched our friends go through it first. We saw what group chats and social media were doing to kids around us. We were scared. So we waited.

She didn't get a phone until she was 16.

We thought we were doing the right thing. And in some ways, maybe we were. But we also saw something we hadn't fully anticipated: she was being left out. Friend groups were forming in group chats she wasn't part of. Plans were made in apps she didn't have. She was on the outside of things not because she was doing anything wrong, but because she didn't have the device everyone else had.

Both things were true at the same time. The risks were real, and so was the cost of waiting.

When she did get a phone, we stayed involved. We made a family contract. That part we're glad we did. But we kept learning. The goal wasn't restriction. It was preparation. Teaching her to understand what she was holding mattered more than the rules we set around it.

As our younger kids came of age, we started building something better. Not a set of rules, but a real framework. One that treats a 13-year-old as someone capable of making good decisions when they actually understand what's at stake.

We've been building PreptRight for six years. We've made mistakes in this journey and we're still making them. That honesty is the point. This isn't a solved problem packaged into an app. It's what we've been working out with our own family, shaped into something other families can use too.

Who PreptRight Is For

You'll recognize yourself in here.

📱

First-phone families

You're about to give your child their first smartphone and you want more than screen time limits and crossed fingers.

🙋‍♀️

Already-phone families

Your child already has a phone and you realize the conversation you meant to have hasn't quite happened yet. It's not too late.

✝️

Values-oriented families

Character, integrity, and intentionality matter to your family. PreptRight's voice is grounded in those same values, without being preachy.

🎁

Gift givers

A phone is a significant gift. PreptRight alongside it turns a moment into a milestone for grandparents, relatives, and mentors who want to give something meaningful.

The Difference

Not a parental control app. Not even close.

The market is full of tools that monitor, restrict, and block. PreptRight is built on a different premise: that understanding beats compliance, every time.

Our Privacy Commitment

PreptRight is built in compliance with COPPA (the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act). Child profiles are created by parents, not children independently. We do not collect data from children without verifiable parental consent. We do not use behavioral advertising targeted at children. You can request complete data deletion for your family at any time.

The family code onboarding model (parent sets up first, child joins via code) is a deliberate design decision. It keeps the child's data under parental oversight at every step.
